Storing tomato paste once it's opened
The right jar, a thin layer of oil, a dry spoon and freezing in portions — four tips for opened paste.

Don't keep the paste in the tin once it's opened — move it to a clean, dry glass jar with a tight lid.
Level the surface and pour a thin layer of oil over it to limit contact with air, then keep the jar in the fridge.
Always use a clean, dry spoon; moisture and food traces shorten its life. If you see mould or notice an off smell, throw it away.
To keep it longer, freeze the paste in an ice-cube tray or small portions and take only what you need. Follow the storage instructions on the pack as well.
